she unmade me
with those feral leaps
off the edges of pristine, concealed cliffs
our shapes like skeins of rippling ropes
with no inclination for halting

a gaze is a goosebump, a graze near death

i have no throwbacks
to weigh up or weigh down my hunt
beyond the doors of language and syntax
we roamed
shamelessly flying past
scowling clouds of envious abstinence
like a conceding umbrella or a scarf

wriggling madly like a bird burning inside an arctic dream

we tumbled through wild gnarly grasses
dragged deeper and faster into unrelenting dungeons
she was flying and sinking and dying and rising
in the tireless grip
of a firm, untamable quill
ethereal as dawn

etching poems on her searing flesh.
